Practice update 26/07/21

Summer changes 2021

Appointments

Demand has increased hugely again and our appointments are limited. We envisage appointment availability will be an issue this summer.  We have always worked off a daily cancellation list however with the demand growing for appointments this list is also growing.

To ensure we see the most urgent patients when needed we are going to implement the following short- term change to our appointment system.

From 19th July until 30th August we will have a short term change to our appointment system.  Morning appointments can be booked in advance however all afternoon appointments will be same day.  We will be medically triaging these afternoon appointments.

What does this mean?

This means you can still plan and book a routine appointment in advance.  It also means we can hopefully facilitate a same day appointment for medically urgent patients who need to be seen and cannot wait for a routine appointment.  It is most likely you will not get a choice of GP and only the one urgent issue can be dealt with.

As always we appreciate your co-operation and understanding

Covid 19

If you have any symptoms of Covid 19 please do not come to the surgery, call us instead on 01 8203303. For the most up to date information on Covid 19 please visit the HSE website

A walk through for our Patient

Public Health advises the continuation of mask wearing in healthcare settings in line with evolving national guidance. In line with this advice, all patients visiting this surgery must continue wear a mask.

Your appointment – Our admin team will ask you the nature of your visit, or what the issue is – this is to ensure you receive the best care.  Your reason for seeing your GP is private and personal to you, and we will always respect this.

We schedule appointments every 15 mins. The GP can deal with only one medical issue. If you need an extended consultation please mention this on booking, it may require changing the appointment to a different day and there will be an additional fee for this service.

The nature of our business means we frequently run over timewise with resulting delays. We are constantly working on better ways to improve this and appreciate your understanding.  On checking in you will be told how many, if any, patients are in front of you. You may wait in your car or our waiting room.

If your GP needs to see you again regarding a result of an investigation, they will send you a text message inviting you to make an appointment at your convenience.  There will be a review fee for this service.

If you need to get a message to your GP or to update them on a previous query which doesn’t necessitate a visit we can send your GP a brief message on your behalf. Unfortunately, it is not possible for any GP to return a phone call and if further action is required it would be advisable to make an appointment instead.

We understand how busy our phone lines are and the frustration this has caused in the past, we have implemented changes to our phone lines, please listen carefully to the message and follow the appropriate prompt.

Please do not send any medical queries by email, it is not possible to manage your medical issue this way and all such emails will be returned.  This is also to protect YOUR medical data.

And finally, as always, from all at The Parks Medical Centre, thank you!

During the cyber crisis we held off sending routine referrals to Connolly Hospital however we are now working through sending them off now. You will have been notified at the time by your GP that your referral was held on hold with us, when we send yours we will text you to let you know your referral is now gone.
