GDPR
What is it?
GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation.
This new EU law concerning Data Protection came into effect on May 25th 2018.
This law replaced the existing Data Protection Acts of 1998 and 2003.
GDPR was put into place to protect all our personal data and to ensure it is stored safely. As a medical practice, the data we hold is sensitive data therefore we actively do all in our power to be GDPR compliant. We have been working on GDPR since January 18, we take our lead from our governing body The ICGP.
This practice has voluntarily adopted the requirements of ‘Processing of Patient Personal Data: “A Guideline for General Practitioners’.
We annually review all our current policies, to ensure they are consistent with the Medical Council guidelines and the privacy principles of the Data Protection Regulations.
Below is a list of all the policies that the practice has developed. They are all available to view in the relevant tabs on this website and hard copies are kept in a GDPR folder in the main office. Should any patient wish to see any of these polices, please request them at the front desk.
